Invisalign Dentist Washington Michigan

Straightening teeth has never been easier than with Invisalign® clear aligners. There are no metal wires or brackets to feel embarrassed about and the aligners themselves are removable when eating. If you’re a self-disciplined teen or adult who wants to correct your teeth in a discreet way, our Washington cosmetic dentist will work with you to get you started on your first set of clear aligners.

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign consists of nearly invisible aligners designed to gradually straighten teeth and correct your bite over time. The clear aligners themselves are meant to fit over your teeth and apply controlled force to move them into better position.

The process is similar to traditional braces in practice but no metal brackets or wires are needed. If you are a teen or adult looking for an alternative to standard orthodontic treatment, Invisalign may be right for you. Before getting started, however, our cosmetic dentist will need to evaluate you to determine whether or not Invisalign is suitable to treat your specific dental issues.

How Does Invisalign Compare to Metal Braces?

Though both forms of treatment correct teeth positioning and bite alignment, Invisalign differs from metal braces in a few distinct ways. For one, Invisalign clear aligners are removable. Whenever you need to eat, drink certain beverages, brush your teeth, or floss, you are able to take the aligners out of your mouth.

Because the aligners are removable, you are able to enjoy an unrestricted diet. Unlike with metal braces, chewy or sticky foods will not get trapped in your aligners if they’re taken out. You will need to practice oral hygiene habits quite regularly though to avoid staining the aligners and reducing their clear effect.

Each set of top and bottom aligners given to you throughout all stages of treatment will need to be worn for 20-22 hours every day. This means that if you choose to wear Invisalign, you must be dedicated to completing treatment or it will not be effective. All patients are different but generally speaking, the average length of treatment is 12 to 16 months.
